$100m plus, if you want to get it right!
It is quite amazing the impact a new venue can have on motorsport in Australia. This event at the 7.7km Tailem Bend Motorsport Bend, near Adelaide in South Australia, undoubtedly will be a memorable one for competitors, spectators and officials.
So it should be! And all power to those whose deep pockets are fast making Tailem Bend the benchmark in Australia. I cannot envisage there ever being another gem like Phillip Island, although the views around Albany are spectacular despite not having seen the proposed venue down there!
But Tailem Bend is also a salutary reminder to those with high hopes that there is little change from $100 million (and maybe much more) if you want to get it right.
