Virgin Australia Supercars Sydney Finale sees Shane van Gisbergen and Jamie Whincup set to go head-to-head on the streets of this weekend to decide the winner of the 2016 Virgin Australia Supercars Championship.

The Red Bull Racing Australia teammates battle it out at the season finale, the Coates Hire Sydney 500, in what is the last race at Sydney Olympic Park before it moves to Newcastle in 2017.

Van Gisbergen leads the six-time Champion Whincup by 191 points as the young Kiwi driver looks to take out his first-ever Supercars Championship.

Supercars Legend Craig Lowndes is looking to make it a clean sweep for the team by securing third position, as he fights to hold off Scott McLaughlin in that Kiwi’s last race for Volvo before he heads to DJR Team Penske in 2017.

The on-track action starts Friday with two 40-minute practice sessions.  Saturday features qualifying and a  250km race, with Sunday bringing qualifying, a Top 10 Shootout and the final race of the season, a 250km affair starting at 12:40 pm WST.

Admission on Friday is free for all fans.

The Coates Hire Sydney 500 broadcasts live on Fox Sports Channel 506 across Friday, Saturday and Sunday and simulcast live on Network Ten and WIN TV in regional areas on both Saturday and Sunday. Please check local guides for times.
